Sunday Schedule
Sunday will be split into two parts. In the morning, we will be at the Vertical Campus again (starting at 9am), where we’ll have a dozen rooms set up for various unconference sessions. We’ll wrap up at 11:30am, and everyone will be on their own to hunt down some lunch in the city. At this point, the regular conference sessions are over.
By 1pm, everyone should be at Mason Hall up the street for the second portion of the day, our “Best of WordCamp NYC” event. This portion will all be in Mason Hall (one room), with only one thing on stage at a time, in contrast to the tracks of the previous day and earlier that morning. The Mason Hall program will last until 6pm. As always, the disclaimer: this schedule is not set in stone, and speakers/times may change at any point.
The afternoon schedule:
12:30 — Doors open, badge pickup for Mini Pass holders
1:00 — Opening Remarks
1:15 — Theme/Plugin Competition Judging (Matt Mullenweg, Mark Jaquith, Brian Gardner)
2:15 — — Ignite-style “Best of” presentations by Saturday’s top-rated speakers (Part I)
2:45 — Break
2:55 — Announcements
3:00 — Ignite-style “Best of” presentations by Saturday’s top-rated speakers (Part II)
4:00 — 2.9 Preview
4:15 — Break
4:25 — WordPress NYC Meetup Announcement
4:30 — Q & A with Matt Mullenweg
5:45 — Closing Remarks
Is there a Sunday grid for morning classes?
Hi Frank. No, there’s no schedule. Sunday morning will be unconference style, meaning the sessions will be proposed by attendees and voted on to assign rooms at the conference itself. The “schedule” will be a bunch of paper on the wall. : ) If you follow @wordcampnyc on twitter, we’ll also tweet on sunday as sessions are assigned rooms.
Couple of questions:
1. Will the voting results appear on the site / twitter?
2. Who runs the unsessions? A panel of speakers from the specified track?
3. How soon will a speaker know that their presentation has made the “Ignite-style” presentation block? Do they get an e-mail notifying them or will it be an announcement at the end of Saturday?
Main reason I’m asking these questions is that my schedule will be very filled while I’m in New York this weekend and I need to make sure I’m in the right places for the right amounts of time. Thanks ahead of time!
